YouTube launches 360-degree live videos & adds spatial audio for on-demand videos
YouTube announced two additions to its arsenal yesterday: 360-degree live streaming videos and spatial audio for on-demand videos.
First launched in March of last year, YouTube’s 360-degree videos can now be streamed live. YouTube says it’s working with companies like VideoStitch, a virtual reality software provider, to make sure its applications are compatible with YouTube’s 360-degree live streams.
From musicians to athletes to brands, creators have done some incredible things with this technology. Now, they’ll be able to do even more to bring fans directly into their world, with 360-degree live streaming.Official YouTube Blog
In addition to 360-degree live streaming, YouTube also rolled out spatial audio for on-demand videos.
“Spatial audio allows you to listen along as you do in real life, where depth, distance and intensity all play a role,” says YouTube. YouTube shared the following New Orleans Jazz Orchestra video to demonstrate its latest audio update.
