8 Web design trends for 2016 [Infographic]
Design has never been more important. Here are eight techniques to create a more modern website experience.
Design standards have risen dramatically in the last few years as the web has matured. Now, more than ever, senior executives, managers and marketers are taking interest in how design affects the customer experience, conversions and how this translates to online revenue contribution.
We will always have design principles to guide our work, but every year there is a new batch of design trends that take over and influence. 2016 is no different as we have some brand new design trends to look forward to, as well as some continuing ones from 2015. The team over at Coastal Creative put together this helpful infographic that breaks down the continuing and emerging trends.
One of the biggest new trends we’re seeing more of is card-based design. This has been popularized and honed over the years by Pinterest, Microsoft, and Google, but we’re seeing it mature as a design element as it makes its way to new sites and platforms. In hand with this trend is an increased focus on minimalism in designs.
As we go forward, we also have to take a step back and simplify. Nobody wants to see parallax and GIFs on every page.
Marketers should take note of what’s up and coming so they can evaluate and work well with their design teams. Not to mention that great design goes hand in hand with great marketing.
